“A New Beginning” at Saatchi Gallery with Winsor and Newton

When I received the email from Winsor & Newton saying that my watercolour postcard, A New Beginning, had been selected for their Art Mail exhibition at Saatchi Gallery in London, I thought I was dreaming!

Art Mail brings together thousands of watercolour-painted postcards from artists around the world. What makes this initiative even more meaningful is that following the exhibition, a selection of postcards will be auctioned to raise funds for Hospital Rooms, a charity that works to transform mental-health spaces through art and creativity.

If you are in the UK, the exhibition is open until 11 October. Entry is free, and there is no need to pre-book. I sadly won’t be able to be there, but I am so grateful to be part of it. The project features contributions from artists including Andrew Carter, Arden Rose, Giles Deacon, Heather Phillipson, Jane Hayes Greenwood, Julie Green, Ken Nwadiogbu, Laxmi Hussain, Mark Titchner, Peter McDonald, Richard Woods and Susie Hamilton.

For my postcard, I painted a daffodil and a butterfly resting on the word Hope, as symbols of renewal, transformation and positive change. To think that this little postcard has made its way to London, and might offer someone a moment of connection there, is a lovely feeling.

To find out more about the exhibition, please visit the Saatchi Gallery exhibition page.

And, if you spot my card, I would love it if you could send me a photo!

Here’s to new beginnings and dreams coming true ✨
